True Repentance Prepares the Way of the Lord
John’s purpose in preaching repentance was to prepare the way for the Lord and make His path straight. Repentance is crucial because it clears the path for the Lord to enter our lives. It can be compared to clearing a yard to welcome a guest into your house. By clearing out wrongdoing and changing our actions, we invite God into our lives to do.
In Luke 3, John the Baptist provides three practical examples of repentance that show we must not only make changes in our lives; we must repent and change how we deal with other people. We must love our neighbor – demonstrating generosity, fairness, and integrity – and consider what we do towards them when we repent.
