The Final Timeline: What Happens Next?

Introduction

Matt. 24:1-22 – “1 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple. 2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. 3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? …

13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. 15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) 16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:

17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: 18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes. 19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! 20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day: 21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.”

• Two main events in the timeline (covered in Class 2):
  • Rapture – when God takes the church 
  • Second coming – Jesus comes to the earth & brings the army with Him
• There are additional milestones that help us understand what happens when
  • One key event is THE ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION (v. 15)
    • We’ll focus on this pivotal point and place other events before and after
    • It occurs in the holy place (v. 15), set up in the temple 
    • For it to occur in the temple, the temple has to be built, and it is not yet built
      • The Jews refer to this as the third temple 
  • After the abomination of desolation, people flee (v. 16; cp. Mark 13:14; Zech. 12:7; Zech. 14:4)
  • Once they flee, “then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world” (v. 21)
    • Great tribulation happens right after the abomination of desolation 
  • Then Jesus returns, everybody sees Him, the battle of Armagaddon occurs, and the eagles feed
    • Matt. 24:27-30 – “27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together. 29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.” 
• The Bible specifies the number of days, months, years different events last 

The Abomination of Desolation

• What is the abomination of desolation?
  • After the temple is rebuilt, the antichrist sits on the throne within the temple, makes himself to be God in his own mind 
  • Such a great deceiver, he deceives himself 
  • He is really going to believe he is God 
• Before that happens, the temple has to be rebuilt
  • Jesus speaks of it being destroyed in Matt. 24:1-2 (above) 
  • It was destroyed in 70 A.D. (40-41 years after Jesus prophesied it) 
  • It’s never been rebuilt, but there is a push in Israel to rebuild it 
  • Jesus cannot return to earth until after it’s rebuilt
    • Things have to happen between the abomination of desolation and His second coming
• Daniel describes the antichrist, what he’ll be and do
  • Dan. 11:36-37 – “36 And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done. 37 Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all.” 
• After talking about the antichrist, he speaks of a great tribulation – “a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time” (v. 1)
  • Dan. 12:1 – “1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.” 
• Dan. 12:7-9, 11 – “7 And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished. 8 And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things? 9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end. … 11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.”
  • This helps us start to get a timeline – v. 7 says “time, times, and an half”
    • Daniel wants to know what all of this means
    • The antichrist is going “to scatter the power of the holy people” (v. 7) – he’ll be fighting against Israel, as Jesus talked about
    • God is telling Israel to flee to the wilderness when you see the antichrist set up in the temple because there will be trouble like you’ve never seen
      • Run so you don’t have to go through this tribulation 
      • Doesn’t have to happen to you if you go to the right place 
  • Time (1) + Times (2) + An Half (.5) = 3.5
    • Here he’s talking about years — 3.5 years is key 
      • Rev. 11:2 – “forty and two months” (3.5 years)
      • Rev. 12:14 – “a time, and times, and half a time” (3.5 years) 
  • v. 11 gives the number of days – “a thousand two hundred and ninety days” 

The Temple & The Daily Sacrifice

• After the abomination of desolation, a number of things happen
  • We know Jesus doesn’t come (second coming) until AFTER the abomination of desolation 
  • The time BETWEEN the abomination of desolation and Jesus coming to reign on earth is called the great tribulation 
  • Three events in order
    • 1. The abomination of desolation 
    • 2. The great tribulation 
    • 3. Jesus coming to reign on earth
• Before the abomination of desolation occurs, Israel will be sacrificing (Dan. 12:11) like they did in the Old Testament
  • They haven’t started sacrificing yet  
  • They’ll have to follow the Old Testament commands of sacrifice, which means they’ll need a red heifer
    • There have been three red heifers born
      • 1997 – male so excluded 
      • 2002 – had a patch of white hair so eliminated 
      • 2018 – first time in 2000 years they have a red heifer that meets the standard of the Word of God 
    • They’re excited because they believe the messiah has to be getting ready to come 
    • With that red heifer they can now begin sacrificing, once the temple is built
• The time between the removal of the daily sacrifice of the daily temple and the abomination of desolation (when the antichrist comes in) will be 1,290 days (Dan. 12:11)
  • 1290 days = 3.5 years plus one month 
  • Events (so far) in order 
    • 1. The daily sacrifice taken away – Dan. 12:11
    • 2. Period of 1,290 days (3.5 years plus one month) – Dan. 12:11
    • 3. The abomination of desolation – Dan. 12:11; Matt. 24:15; Mark 13:14
    • 4. The great tribulation – Matt. 24:21; Dan. 12:1
    • 5. Second coming – Matt. 24:27-30
      • Jesus coming to reign on earth
      • Battle of Armageddon 
• Israel has tried to rebuild the third temple several times but each time the effort has failed
  • Right now the territory is occupied by Muslims 
  • Ex. Roman emperor Julian in the 3rd century A.D. tried to rebuild the temple but “the project of rebuilding the temple was aborted because each time the workers tried to build the temple using the existing substructure, they were burned by terrible flames coming from inside the earth and an earthquake negated what work was made”

  • Every time so far, disastrous things have happened when they tried to build because Jesus has a time frame and everything has to be done within His time frame
    • It has to add up exactly to the number of days in scripture – 1,290 days after the sacrifice is removed out of the temple, then you have the abomination of desolation (Dan. 12:11)

The Two Witnesses

• Rev. 11:1-2 – “1 And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein. 2 But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.”
  • v. 2 “forty and two months” – 3.5 years
  • v. 1 the angel told him to measure the temple he saw 
  • v. 2 the Gentiles will tread the holy city under foot for 42 months 
• Rev. 11:3-5 – “3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth. 4 These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth. 5 And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed.”
  • There will be two witnesses who “shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days” (v. 3)
    • 1,260 days / 30 = 42 months
      • A score = 20 | Threescore = 60
      • 30 days per month
  • 42 months the Gentiles will trod under foot the holy city (v. 2), desecrate it
  • Two witnesses described
    • They’re also mentioned in Zech. 4:11-14
    • v. 4 “the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth” 
    • v. 5 if anyone hurts them, fire comes out of their mouth and devours their enemies and they’re killed 
• Rev. 11:7-12 – “7 And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them. 8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified. 9 And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves. 10 And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth. 11 And after three days and an half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them. 12 And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them.”
  • v. 7 the two witnesses will finish their testimony – preach for 42 months (1,260 days)
  • v. 7 then the beast will come out of the bottomless pit, make war with them, overcome them, and kill them 
  • v. 8 their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city, Sodom and Egypt (speaking of Jerusalem)
    • Revelation written around 90 A.D. yet John wrote that the people, kindreds, tongues, and nations shall SEE their dead bodies 3.5 days (v. 9)
      • People – general 
      • Kindreds – relatives, families
      • Tongues – people that speak different languages
        • Ex. Within the United States, people speak English, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, etc. 
      • Nations – around the world
    • Summary
      • The Gentiles trod Jerusalem under foot  (v. 2) 
      • God’s two witnesses preach against what’s going on for 42 months (1,260 days) (v. 3)
      • They’re killed by the beast that arises out of the bottomless pit
        • Trifecta – Satan, antichrist, and the beast work together 
      • While their bodies are lying in the streets of Jerusalem, people around the world send gifts one to another (v. 10)
    • Even the nations around the world get to watch while their bodies are in the streets of Jerusalem (v. 9) – 2000 years ago, before they even had a camera, God allowed John to see technology (ex. Satellite TV) that is simple to us now 
  • They preached 3.5 years (42 months = 1,260 days) but after they’re killed, they’re raptured, taken up (v. 11-12)
    • Their enemies beheld them (v. 12)
• Rev. 11:18-19 – “18 And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth. 19 And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.”
  • The nations were angry (v. 18)

Israel to Flee

• Rev. 12:1-3, 5-7 – “…6 And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days. 7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,”
  • v. 6 the woman fled into the wilderness
    • Has a place prepared of God that they should feed her for 1,260 days (42 months = 3.5 years)
    • Same fleeing described in Zech. 12:7; Zech. 14:5; Matt. 24:16; Mark 13:14; and Dan. 12:7 where they flee and are gone for 3.5 years (42 months)
    • Israel flees – here Israel is called “the woman”
      • Cp. holy people in Dan. 12:7; them that be in Judaea in Matt. 24:16; Mark 13:14.
        • Judaea – The “land of the Jews,” the Greco-Roman equivalent of Judah (International Standard Bible Encyclopedia) 
  • v. 7 war in heaven – Michael and his angels fought the dragon and his angels
    • Cp. Dan. 12:1 – Michael fought for Israel
      • Before the great tribulation came, before Satan, the enemy, and the antichrist could destroy all of them, Michael goes to war 
• Rev. 12:13-14 – “13 And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child. 14 And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.”
  • v. 13 the dragon persecuted the woman 
  • v. 14 the woman given two wings to “fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time” – 3.5 years
    • Cp. Dan. 12:7 “it shall be for a time, times, and an half” 
    • 3.5 years is the length of the great tribulation 

Events Before & After the Abomination

• 7 year period from the time the sacrifices stop in the temple until the time Jesus returns
  • 1. Sacrifices stop in the temple 
  • 2. 3.5 year period
    • Before the abomination of desolation is set up you have 3.5 years during which the two witnesses preach, Gentiles are throughout Jerusalem 
  • 3. Abomination of desolation  
    • Before the great tribulation (which lasts 3.5 years or 1,260 days), you have the abomination of desolation set up 
  • 4. 3.5 year period – great tribulation
    • Israel (the woman) flees 
  • 5. Jesus returns to earth
    • The great tribulation ends 
    • The battle of Armageddon
• After Jesus comes to earth (Rev. 19), the timeline includes:
  • The Millenial Reign 
  • A time of Satan being loosed – short time 
  • New heaven and new earth 
• Understand the abomination of desolation – the Bible gives the number of days before and after 

When is the rapture of the church in the timeline?

• 2 Thess. 2:1-4 – “1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, 2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. 3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.”
  • v. 2 the day of Christ is NOT at hand – the second coming to earth was not about to happen then
    • Paul also talked about His coming to rapture us as something that could happen at any time (Phil. 3:20-21; Titus 2:13; Cp. 2 Pet. 3:12)
  • v. 3 “ that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition”
    • Until the abomination of desolation occurs, until the antichrist sits in the temple of Solomon (which isn’t built yet), this second coming cannot happen 
  • v. 4 the antichrist is described (cp. Dan. 11:36-37) 
• 2 Thess. 2:5-9 – “…6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. 7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. 8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: 9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,”
  • v. 6 “now ye know what withholdeth” – what’s stopping the antichrist from sitting in the temple and being revealed
    • He’ll be revealed in his time 
  • v. 7 “only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way”
    • Letteth – katechō κατέχω (S:2722) – means to hold back, prevent something from happening 
    • The antichrist is stopped and the abomination of desolation cannot happen, according to scripture, because there’s something withholding him, preventing him, from being revealed 
    • He’s talking about the body of Christ 
      • He can’t be revealed until we’re taken 
      • The word “taken” means raptured 
  • v. 8 “And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth”
    • Cp. Rev. 19:15, 21 sword out of his mouth
• When does the rapture happen? It happens at some point before the abomination of desolation 
• The rapture can happen at any time – Paul expected it any moment, even while he was still alive  (Phil. 3:20-21; Titus 2:13)
  • He doesn’t tell us when it will take place, but we know it has to happen before the abomination of desolation 
  • There are no signs of the rapture, but we see signs of His second coming to earth to reign and we know the rapture has to happen before that
    • The antichrist has no desire for women (Dan. 11:37), but they regard little boys (Joel 3:3) 
  • Don’t think of a timeframe for the rapture, except it has to happen so the antichrist can be revealed 

Timeline of Events

• Daily sacrifices in the temple stop (Dan. 12:11)
• 1,290 day (43 month) period from the end of sacrifices until the abomination of desolation (Dan. 12:11)
  • 1,260 days (42 months) during this time the witnesses preach to the world (Rev. 11:2-3)
• Abomination of desolation – antichrist sits on the throne in the temple of God (Matt. 24:15; Dan. 12:11)
  • The rapture of the church has to happen at some point BEFORE the abomination of desolation (2 Thess. 2:6-7 taken)
• Great tribulation – 3.5 years (42 months) after the abomination of desolation (Matt. 24:21; Dan. 12:7)
  • Israel flees into the wilderness (Rev. 12:6; Zech. 12:7; Zech. 14:5; Matt. 24:16; Mark 13:14)
• The coming of Jesus & the battle of Armageddon – He returns to the earth & destroys him with the sword out of his mouth (Rev. 19:11-21)

The Great Tribulation

• Eagle with two wings carries the woman (Israel) into the wilderness and she’s protected for 1,260 days – time, and times, and half a time (Rev. 12:6, 14)
• Rev. 12:15-17 – “15 And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood. 16 And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth. 17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.”
  • People will be saved after the rapture, during the great tribulation 
  • v. 17 – “the remnant of her seed which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ” will be saved 
  • Will Jews and Gentiles be saved during this period?
    • He came to Israel first
      • John 1:11-13 – “11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” 
    • Rom. 11:24-26 – “24 For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert graffed contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be graffed into their own olive tree? 25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. 26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:”
      • God had a tree (Israel) but some didn’t do what they should have so they were plucked out, and we were grafted in 
      • Paul is talking about the time period we see in Revelation 
      • God uses Revelation, the antichrist, and the great tribulation to focus on Israel so that He can save them again, as He saved many Gentiles before 
    • The emphasis is not as much on the Gentiles, but in Rev. 20 and Zech. 14:2-4, 16 you’ll find people will be saved out of all nations
      • They’ll have to keep the commandments – being born of spirit and water, and having the name (John 3:3-8, 18; ) – and NOT take the mark, name, or number of the name of the beast (Rev. 20:4)
• Jesus comes to stop the great tribulation – so bad that if He doesn’t, no flesh shall be saved (Matt. 24:22; Mark 13:20)

The Coming of Jesus

• The Coming of Jesus & The War (Rev. 18-19)
• Rev. 19:11-16 – “ 11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. 12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. 13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. 14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. 15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”
  • We come back with Him – “the armies which were in heaven followed Him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean” (v. 14)
    • Cp. Rev. 1:5 those washed in his blood; Rev. 6:9-11 giving the ones slain white robes
  • People on earth will be saved and people in heaven will come back with Him 
• Matt. 24:27-30 – “27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together. 29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.”
  • “Immediately after the tribulation of those days” (v. 29), Jesus returns
• The battle of Armageddon (Rev. 19:17-19)
  • v. 17 – “And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;” 
  • Jesus’ armies follow Him and then there is war
  • He devours the enemy with the sword that goes out of His mouth (v. 15)
  • He calls a great feast of the fowls together at this battle of armageddon and they eat of the flesh (Rev. 19:17-18, 21; Luke 17:37; Matt. 24:27-28)
    • Cp. Megiddon in Zech. 12:11
      • Where Josiah was killed – 2 Kings 23:29-30; 2 Chron. 35:22-24
• The coming of Jesus to earth – He stands on the mountain, everyone sees Him, and the battle of Armageddon cp. Matt. 24; Luke 17; Zech. 12, 14

Millennial Reign and Satan Loosed

• Rev. 20:2-3 – “2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, 3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.”
  • Rev. 12:9 he’s cast to the earth – he gets to start having his way when the church is taken out of the way (2 Thess. 2:6-7 taken)
  • In the book of Revelation, you see the word church in chapters 1-3, then in chapter 4, he starts talking about the “things which must be hereafter” (Rev. 4:1); after that you don’t really see the church anymore
    • The term is used at the end of the Bible in Rev. 22:16, but you don’t see the church because the church was raptured 
  • After the battle of Armageddon in Rev. 19, Satan is bound a thousand years (v. 2) and cast into the bottomless pit so he should not deceive the nations any more, till the thousands years are fulfilled (v. 3) 
• Rev. 20:4 – “And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.”
  • v. 4 how you’re saved after – people went through tribulation and stayed faithful 
  • The ones who make it through this period then live and reign with Christ for 1,000 years (v. 4) 
• Rev. 20:7-9 – “7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, 8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. 9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.”
  • Satan will be loosed (v. 7), and he will deceive, tempt, cause some people to still want to war against Christ (v. 8-9) one last time 
• Rev. 20:10- “And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. ”
  • The devil is cast into the lake of fire and brimstone (v. 10) 

White Throne of Judgment

• Rev. 20:11-15 – “11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”
  • Then, there is the great white throne of judgment (v. 11)
  • In this judgment, the dead were judged out of the book of life (v. 12) 
  • If they were not found written in the book of life, they were cast into the lake of fire (v. 15)
    • If their name was written in the book of life, they were not cast into the lake
