Search the Scriptures: The Importance of Studying Part 2

Many times talk about receiving a “fresh word” from God. We have to study to make sure that whatever we say, think, or do lines up with what God has already written. 2 Timothy 2:15 says, “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” There is no need to be ashamed of what you say if you take time to study the word of God! His words become your script, your plan, your guide, and he will never lead you on the wrong path.

The Bible says in 2 Peter 1:19-20 that we have a “more sure word of prophecy” and “no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.” The word of God is clear and is filled with enough of God’s wisdom that all we have to do is study the scriptures then preach and teach what’s already written.
