The Church of Ephesus
The Church of Ephesus
The Church of Ephesus is the first of 7 churches that John wrote about in the book of Revelation 2 (Rev. 2:1-7). Jesus first speaks about all of the actions that this church did right, but the church of Ephesus left their “first” love. The word “first” in this scripture is from the Greek word “Protos” which speaks of being first in order of priority. Though the church of Ephesus was doing everything else right, they did not prioritize God in their hearts. The Lord gave the church of Ephesus three instructions in order to get right: Remember, Repent, and Do the first works (Rev. 2:5).
