The Church in Philadelphia
The sixth church that John wrote about is the Church in Philadelphia (Rev. 3:7-13). When broken down, the Greek word Philadelphia means the church of “Brotherly Love.” Philadelphia was one of the two churches in Revelation that did not get rebuked by the word of the Lord. The church in Philadelphia had a little strength, but God had a door open for them that no man could shut!
They had access to everything that God had because they kept his word and did not deny His name. There was so much love surrounding the church in Philadelphia. Because this church went through right, stood with little strength, kept the word of His patience, held on to His purpose, and held on to faith, God said, “…I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth” (Rev. 3:10).
God will keep us from the temptation that will come upon the world if we keep the word of his patience and depend on Him!
